Answers to the most frequently asked questions
Are you an heir tracing company?
Yes, we are an heir tracing company and are licensed by the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice to conduct private investigations in The Netherlands (POB 1403). We work on a contingency fee basis as well as based on an hourly fee. Please let us know how we can help you.
Can you also obtain vital statistics, e.g. birth, marriage and death certificates?
We can also obtain vital statistics such as a birth, marriage and death certificate. It does depend on the case presented to us and usually we are only able to obtain short form certificates. However, if you're a notary or a lawyer and able to provide us with a power of attorney, we should be able to obtain any information you are looking for. There are other sources we can consult though, that usually provide pretty much the same if not more information. Information from the county register can be obtained, for instance.
Which countries do you conduct research in?
We conduct research in The Netherlands and Belgium ourselves, but through our extensive network of genealogical and legal professionals, we are able to conduct research in most every country in Europe and beyond. We have a correspondent in Portugal and Indonesia, for instance, which are countries where research in general is difficult. Let us know how we can help you.
What sort of clients do you regularly work for?
Amongst our clients are (inheritance) lawyers, civil law notaries, (local) governments and probate genealogists. Having said that, we also conduct conventional genealogical research for private individuals from time to time. Should you not find yourself amongst these categories of clients, then you are still invited to contact us. Let us know how we may help you.
Are you a member of any professional association?
The owner of Erfgenamenonderzoek.nl, Klaas Zondervan, is registered as a solicitor with the Dutch Organization of Legal Advisors. He is also a member of the Professional Association of Genealogists and the Dutch Genealogy Association. Apart from being a probate genealogist, he also works as a legal liquidator and an executor of estates. Please visit www.luminisexecuteurs.nl for more information (mostly in Dutch).

We specialize in due diligence for probate and intestacy. As such we not only conduct probate research, but we also trace the beneficiaries and provide you with signed powers of attorney from the heirs if requested.
